Understanding Redesign Staging

Redesignstaging and redesign is something you should know about if you are selling a home or looking for an exciting new career that relates to home decor. Redesign staging means preparing a home for buyers to tour. This often means working with what the homeowner already has, although sometimes improvements in some areas are required. To design a home that will entice homebuyers, there are certain rules of the trade that professional home stagers and redesign professionals understand. There are a great deal of schools and courses for those interested in this line of work. Shop around to ensure the education you get is accredited, a must for any type of career that requires education.

When redesigning a home, a professional stager will usually present the rooms in neutral tones like beige, white, tan and warm woods. There is nothing wrong with color or style, but your style may not match the person who is thinking about buying your home. The goal is to make the home look like a show property so those who tour it can easily imagine their own furnishings and belongings in the house. This means the current residents should not only make sure the home is spotless, but that all personal effects like toothbrushes, makeup, family photos and the like have been packed away. You may not like this idea when selling your home but it does make a difference and may bring in more interested buyers and perhaps even more money.

The outside of a home is just as important as the inside. If your lawn is poorly tended it must be mowed and any landscaping eyesores should be taken care of. It is estimated that a potential buyer starts forming their opinion the moment they pull up at the home and glimpse the outside. As a potential buyer tours a home for sale, they form stronger opinions about whether or not the home appeals to them. There are sneaky tricks that stagers know to gently nudge buyers in the right direction, like using aromatherapy or accenting a certain area with tasteful decor items so the home does not exude a cold look and feel which can happen with lots of neutrals.

A redesign staging career can be very rewarding both personally and financially. However some areas have a higher demand for these professionals than others. Even if you don't specifically work in redesign and staging, you have the option of going into real estate and expanding your skills to include staging. Or, you could try to land consultant positions with real estate agencies who need professionals on a periodic or freelance basis to prepare homes for sale.
