One career you may have never heard of is that of home stager. A stager is responsible for preparing homes for sale in order to make the best possible impression on buyers. This practice is becoming so popular there are even reality shows on home and garden television networks related to preparing homes for sale, also known as staging. It is amazing what these pros can do with a home using the resources at their disposal. While some real estate agents may have staging skills, there are actually separate individuals and companies who specialize in staging homes.

When preparing a home for sale, it's often a good idea to start from the outside. The exterior of your home is the first thing potential buyers see, so you want to present it as favorably as possible. Things like your sidewalk, driveway, lawn, trees, flowers and outdoor lighting can make or break the impression the outside of your home exudes. A staging pro can evaluate the outside of your home and advise you if any changes need to be made to increase the selling potential.

Inside your home, there are many different ways stagers work to increase the appeal for buyers. There are things you may not even notice that a stager would see right away. They work to get rid of unnecessary items, help encourage the flow of positive space, use color to their advantage and know about furniture placement and home décor that the majority of buyers find appealing. It is their job to know these things, which can make a big difference in your selling price or whether your home sells at all.

Therefore, if you are planning to sell your residence consider hiring a home stager. You can talk to your agent about recommending a professional or simply check your telephone directory. The majority of staging companies will be happy to give you a free quote for their services. The price to have your home staged depends upon its size, your location, how intricate the job is and the company you are working with. It's hard to say right off the bat how much a staging professional will charge for their services. Also, some companies charge by the hour while others charge a flat fee after evaluating the project.
